Velvet has been creeping up on the trend chart this winter and yet somehow I still don't own any velvet pieces. It's such a rich and luxurious fabric perfect for fall and winter plus its a great alternative to the greatly popular suede. My favourite way velvet has been incorporated onto runways is on booties, it's a little more unexpected than a velvet dress, though I do think velvet dresses are super elegant.

Little Black Tie
In November I got a navy dress from Zara that had a neck tie which is what I really liked about the dress. The neck tie is what also made the dress a little bit different to style. I had always wanted to try the classic french twist hair style but if done with that dress I thought I would end up looking like a flight attendant. Instead of going for the french twist I channeled my favourite fashion decade, the 60's. I wore my hair straight parted to the side with a "pouf" in the back, and a very bold smokey eye. To accessorize I wore the short dress thigh high boots. I had the front of the dress shortened in the so that a little bit of thigh was visible so the boots didn't just look like heels with tights. I didn't look like a flight attendant at all!
Now here is the sad part ...
I was doing laundry last month and as the inexperienced laundress I am I shrunk my dress into a weird fitting tight shirt. Since my favourite part of the dress - the neck tie was still okay I cut it off the dress and voila I wore it today with a T-shirt.

Gone Shopping
Saturday I went shopping for my Prom dress. I had found a Jill Stuart one I loved about a month ago and then found another one from the brand La Femme. The dresses were both completely different which made deciding which one I wanted to buy even harder.
Once I tried both dresses on for the second time there was no question about which dress was the dress.
I guess you'll have to find out on May 28th which one I chose ;)

The First of Fifteen
Ahhh the first day back at school after a two week break. The first day every student dreaded in 2015. For some reason today I was in a weirdly good mood. Maybe because I got four hours of sleep? Once I got home from school I opened an e-mail stating that I've been accepted to York University! Yay!!
I hope you all made the best of your first day back :)

Rewind: 2014
Out of all the years in your life, which year would you say has been your best year?
I would say so far mine has been this year. 2014 was filled with so many new and exciting things. I started this blog for one thing, traveled more than ever before, attended my first ever fashion show, got my first pair of Christian Louboutin shoes (yes first as in there will be more...I hope), and so much more. I would like to thank everyone who has been reading this blog from across the world - you my readers are what motivates me to keep going. I am so grateful for what this year has brought and hope that 2015 can be just as wonderful, if not more.
Stay tuned ;)
xoxo

DIY Christmas
Christmas is only two short days away and by now most people who celebrate already have their homes decorated. In my house our decor has gone down the do it yourself route by arranging Christmas ornaments in vases and paining on canvases. I have photographed all the Christmas decor in my home to help inspire those of you who are dedicating tonight and tomorrow to finish decorating or even inspire you for next year!

Casual Mondays
Today marks the first day of winter break for me which also means winter has begun. At least the start of winter means summer is getting closer. To kick off winter break I went out for lunch with family and kept it casual in the most comfortable boyfriend jeans and a cozy sweater.
