Balanced

Since this Zara off the shoulder dress if very pink and very girly I wanted to style it in a way that gave it a little bit of "edge". I accessorized the dress by wearing snakeskin platform heels instead of nude simple strapy heel which would have made the dress feel even more feminine. I also added a diamond choker from Topshop. The diamonds fit in with the girly look but the choker is a bit more trendy and cool.

Drape Your Jackets

Last year was all about wearing your jackets over your shoulders, this year we're wearing our jackets draped around our arms for an effortless 'cool' look. The style is most suitable for bomber jackets and over sized denim jackets so that it isn't uncomfortable or restricting.

In the Nude...Bodysuit

If you've gone shopping in the past eight months you know bodysuits are everywhere right now. They're being made in a multitude of styles, colours, and cuts. The best part of the bodysuit is that they're made to be tucked in to your bottoms. No more worrying about your shirt bunching underneath your skirt, with a body suit all lines are smooth and perfectly tucked.

Off the Shoulder Is Everything

It's no secret that off the shoulder tops and dresses are a huge trend right now and I am such a fan!

Borrowed From the Boys

Of  course the suit is a staple in every mans closet, but it should be in every woman's too. A good suit is fun and edgy as well as a great alternative for a night out. A suit worn to work with a crisp white blouse underneath can be transformed for night time worn with a silk lace camisole. It's much less expected than a simple black dress or a cute top with jeans.

The Beret

When I think of Parisian style I immediately picture a beret and a nautical shirt to match. It's a very cliche way of viewing Parisian style but, the hat did originate in the South of France in the 17th century. By the 1920s both women and men began wearing berets in France's working class.  The french accessory later became a fashion statement and a symbol of French fashion.
Berets have been showing up recently on the Fall/Winter runways and are making their way to the streets.

Crushing on...VELVET

Velvet has been creeping up on the trend chart this winter and yet somehow I still don't own any velvet pieces. It's such a rich and luxurious fabric perfect for fall and winter plus its a great alternative to the greatly popular suede. My favourite way velvet has been incorporated onto runways is on booties, it's a little more unexpected than a velvet dress, though I do think velvet dresses are super elegant.

Most Coveted Material

SUEDE

I've been all over suede for fall and winter this year. The material suits the 70s vibes of the season so well. Carrying the suede trend over to spring can be done effortlessly with a shift dress like the one I'm wearing from Aritzia .

The Running Shoe Report

Running shoes are kind of the thing right now. Everyone is wearing them from street style stars, to the biggest bloggers, to top models. Every high end department store you go into will have a spot in their shoe department dedicated to just running shoes.

I made a vow two years ago to myself that I would never fall into this running shoe trend. It was so not me and I hated the look on everyone. This was back when people were wearing wedged running shoes (ewwww). Now the more I see running shoes being worn, and the wedged running shoe trend dying, the more it's growing on me. I can see the appeal of the running shoe now when it's being worn in a cool minimalist way, say with a cool t-shirt and leather pants?

So last week I broke my vow. I walked into Holt Renfrew and in their designated running shoe section of the shoe department was a pair of off white Nike Roshes with an off white swoosh. I was sold.

Here are some of my favourite running shoe looks:

Army Green

Shirt dresses are super cool for this summer and they're also so practical and versatile. This army green one from Gap can be warn in so many different ways. It would look great with gladiator sandals, distressed skinnies with cool oxfords/heels, or un-belted with a pair of bell bottoms and platforms to go more into that 70s trernd.

A Flare to Remember

I think by now we are all aware that the 70s is huge for the upcoming spring/summer, fall/winter seasons. If you have been following all the fall '15 shows then you definitely know that it is the biggest trend on the runways right now. With the 1970s trend comes flare jeans. Flare jeans otherwise known as bell-bottoms were first adopted in 1813 by the U.S Navy. In the mid 19th century the British Royal Navy made bell-bottoms part of their official uniform. In the mid 1960s flared jeans become popular for both men and women in Europe and North America. In '67 the jeans moved from the high fashion scene to part of the hippie movement. Flared jeans became chic again in the 1970s and were bigger than ever. In 1996 the flare jeans were re-introduced to the fashion scene as boot cut jeans which are very similar to flare jeans but with a much narrower leg opening. Boot cut jeans were popular until 2006 when skinny jeans took over.

2015 marks the rise of the flare and the fall of the skinny.

Fall '15 Street Style and Front Row

Here are some of my favourite street style shots by Tommy Ton and front row looks from the Fall '15 Fashion shows from New York to Paris.
The top three trends I spotted were the 1970's, hats, and camel coats.

Lets Talk About Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits have been around for a while now and don't seem to be going away anytime soon. Jumpsuits are definitely been a favourite of mine. They can be dressed up or down and are a great alternative to a shirt and pants or dress.

Turbans

Yesterday I found the turban I have been searching for for over a year ever since I saw Kourtney Kardashian wearing it in Miami. Turbans have been popular on and off ever since 15th century Europe and have again been appearing on runways over the past few years. In the 1930's wearing a turban portrayed the wearer as glamorous and well educated.

Metallic

Metallics have been seen on the Spring 2014 runways at Givenchy, Saint Laurent, and several other fashion houses. Metallics can be seen on dresses, shirts, and even pants! For those not daring enough to wear metallics so boldly but still want to wear the trend, go for a metallic clutch, nail polish, or shoe.
