Off the Shoulder Is Everything

It's no secret that off the shoulder tops and dresses are a huge trend right now and I am such a fan!

Borrowed From the Boys

Of  course the suit is a staple in every mans closet, but it should be in every woman's too. A good suit is fun and edgy as well as a great alternative for a night out. A suit worn to work with a crisp white blouse underneath can be transformed for night time worn with a silk lace camisole. It's much less expected than a simple black dress or a cute top with jeans.

Lorde

19 year old musician Lorde not only has a unique sound, but a unique style that matches it. Both her songs and style are dark and edgy but irresistible.

The Beret

When I think of Parisian style I immediately picture a beret and a nautical shirt to match. It's a very cliche way of viewing Parisian style but, the hat did originate in the South of France in the 17th century. By the 1920s both women and men began wearing berets in France's working class.  The french accessory later became a fashion statement and a symbol of French fashion.
Berets have been showing up recently on the Fall/Winter runways and are making their way to the streets.

Choosing the Perfect Prom Dress

ad

Whenever I am at a department store, or a boutique, the first thing I go for are the shoes, and then the gowns. Maybe this stems from my love of Disney Princesses as a young girl which grew into my obsession with what celebrities were wearing on the red carpet as I got older (they’re like the real life Disney Princesses right?)

My favourite Disney Princess was always Aurora from Sleeping Beauty for obvious reasons, her dress changed colour. Growing up I would envision what my prom dress would look like, I had no specific style of dress in mind but I knew it was important to me that my dress be full length, elegant, but still fashion forward, and red carpet worthy rather than the typical cheesy prom gown.

For me the much anticipated day of prom has passed, but for those in grade 11 or 12 this year going to prom, below are some of my favourite prom dress options from the 2016 prom dresses collection at Aisle Style. The dresses can be selected in a multitude of styles and be made to measure. They’re great options for the girl like me who wants a more red carpet approach to her prom dress.

Rodeo Drive

Obviously my favourite places in LA consist of Rodeo Drive and the Beverley Hills area in general, Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, and The Grove. What are the two things they all have in common? Shopping and good food.
I went to Rodeo twice during my visit to Los Angeles a couple months ago. First to have lunch at the famed Nate N Al's, I got the Larry King Matzoh Brei. I guess Larry King goes to Nate N Al's pretty often. The second time I went was to shop around and was also the time my Sister showed me a pair of Tom Ford heels I'll never forget. They are crazy cool, please buy them for me.

Milan Fashion Week Street Style

I love the fun and fearlessness of Milan fashion. It's not hard to find a pair of yellow shoes, a red patent leather skirt, or daytime pajamas. Yes, daytime pajamas.

Beverley Hills Hotel

While in Beverley Hills I decided it was a must that I go check out the iconic Beverley Hills Hotel. I love the whole look of the place. It's basically like a pink stucco castle where celebrities like to hang out (I didn't see any).

London Town

Okay, so I'm not actually in London. I've never even been to London, but this little neighborhood we shot in near Casa Loma seems so London-esc. I love the white row homes with simple black doors. Its a perfect location for a simple little black dress.

Thompson Diner

I wore this all white ensemble this weekend to go to dinner with a friend at the Thompson Diner in the Thompson Hotel. What I like most about the diner is the decor inside - it has a 1960's/1970's look to it as do the rooms in the hotel which all have a mid-century modern design.
I would say if you're in the King West area go eat at somewhere on King West don't look else where! All the food on King is amazing!

From Me to You

2. Michelle Obama's Influence on Clothing - I found this to be a really interesting read. It really shows how much of an impact the first lady has on the fashion industry.
3. A Whose Who Guide to the Female Tribes of Hollywood I would definitely either want to be apart of Cara's tribe or Kim's.

Canadian Art and Fashion Awards

This past Saturday night played host to the second annual Canadian Art and Fashion Awards (CAFA) at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. CAFA is meant to honor Canadian talent in the fashion industry as well as emerging Canadian talent. The host for the evening was Joe Zee, editor in chief of Yahoo Style. Some of the winners of the evening include Anais Pouliot for Model of the Year, Erdem for International Canadian Designer of the Year, and Mikhael Kale for Womenswear designer of the year.
I had the pleasure of being at this years awards ceremony and was lucky to have the opportunity to meet some of Canada's most important names in fashion.

A Guide to Yorkville

I would say that the two most fashionable Toronto neighborhoods are Yorkville and the West Queen West area which Vogue magazine listed as the second coolest neighborhood in the world. Yorkville is more posh while West Queen West is more hipster. I prefer Yorkville but both areas have their perks. Yorkville offers a good mix of high end and low(er) end stores as well as great restaurants.
Here is a list of places to shop and eat while in Yorkville

Wedding Bells

This past Friday one of my cousins got married. I'm one of those people who happens to really like weddings, probably because every wedding I go to turns out to be a lot of fun;my family likes to have a good time - a really good time. Plus I always love finding a new outfit to wear and getting my hair and make-up done. I find weddings are a good opportunity for me to try out new hair and make-up looks. My look for last weeks wedding at the MacLaren Art Centre (really nice venue by the way!) had a lot of different things going on but at the same time I don't think the look was too much but that's for you to decide. For my hair I went with an old Hollywood glam look - side swept curls, for my make-up I did a nude lip,a really dramatic eye and some contouring which I've always wanted to try out. Now for the outfit.... I've been seeing a lot of cheetah print fur coats floating around the fashion world and decided I loved them so naturally I needed one. Luckily when I went shopping for the wedding I found the perfect jacket at Topshop, paired it with a black fringe dress (so fun), and black pointed toe heels to add at least something that was simple.

All About Those Pants

I got these pants in the summer, and I love them every bit as much now as I did then. They're very different and unexpected. They remind me of the 1970's which is part of the reason why I love them so much for sure which is partly why I decided to wear my hair wavy today and parted in the middle to keep with the 70's vibes. Every time I wear these pants I think of a new way to style them and keep evolving my style.
