2016 Oscars Best Dressed

It's no secret that I have a love for celebrity red carpets which is what makes the Oscars so exciting for me. I have included the best looks from the various Oscar after parties as well because they're just a little more fun.

Givenchy

Hubert de Givenchy was born on February 21, 1927 and grew up in France. Growing up he thought he wanted a career in law even though he grew up enjoying sewing and fashion. Givenchy moved to Paris for University  which is when he decided he wanted a career in fashion. Hubert de Givenchy started his fashion house Givenchy in 1952. The house grew to  be loved by everyone rapidly. Givenchy's biggest muse was Audrey Hepburn. He designed most of her costumes for movies such as Funny Face, Sabrina, and that iconic little black dress she wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Givenchy sold his company in 1988 and retired in 1995. Today Riccardo Tisci is the creative director of the fashion house who's muse is Kim Kardashian.

Oscar de la Renta

Yesterday the world lost a true talent, amazing designer, and a man who always gave back. Oscar de la Renta passed away yesterday at the age of 82 after suffering from cancer for several years. Oscar was born in Santo Domingo where he grew up and then decided to move to Spain to work under Cristobal Balanciaga and later Castillo-Lanvin to peruse a career in fashion design.
Oscar de la Renta dressed not only Hollywood royalty but also women like Jacqueline Kennedy, Nancy Reagan and Hillary Clinton. De la Renta's designs were not only beautiful, and elegant but were adorned with the most beautiful, vibrant colours. Oscar de la Renta has been praised by many for his generosity and kind heart. After adopting his son Moies, Oscar decided to personally support an orphanage in his native country of the Dominican Republic. He provided the children with housing, food education, and hope.
 May he rest in peace.
